LUBE + VACBED VIDEO!
Our friends at www.fetishkitsch.com made a video with a Kink Engineering Vacbed, and about half a gallon of silicone lube and Miss Kitsch. It… blew… our… mind!
Posted with permission of the fine folks at www.fetishkitsch.com who do GREAT work. Visit them and subscribe to their site… you will not be disappointed!
The vacbed is our standard model sealing vacbed: Pewter 0.45mm latex.
Great advice on keeping a Kink Engineering Vacbed Sealed Air tight by Fetishkitsch. (I’ll add some notes at the end)
Dear Kitsch Kouple,
The images from your recent “Vacbed + Lube” shoot look fantastic. Me and my girl also have a vacbed from KE (Ours is baby pink, instead of pewter - which looks amazing). I’ve tried any number of things to seal off all of the various leak points, but to no avail. I still have to periodically run the vacuum to maintain the tightness. Do you have any pointers on how to effectively keep the vacbed well-sucked without having to occasionally run the vacuum?
My best,
DeityDear Diety,
First of all, if it appears that we do not run the vacuum at all in our videos, that is just due to the magic of editing. While the folks over at Kink Engineering do build a mean vacbed, we still run our vacuum ever 10 to 20 minutes just to keep it tight. Bare in mind that this is done mostly for aesthetic purposes as even with a little bit of air in the bed it is still very restricting.
However there are a few basic things you can do to ensure a tighter seal with your vacbed:
1. Use electrical tape or hockey shin pad tape to seal the gasket where the frame exits the bed. When doing this be sure that there is no lube where you are placing the tape. Also be sure that you cover the joint between the one way valve supplied by KE and the frame.
2. Lube the area of the vacbed where the closure bar will be. This just helps to ensure that there are no folds where air can possibly escape in the closure bar.
3. Some other things you can do so that running the vacuum doesn’t have to interrupt your play as often are to purchase a remote control outlet adapter so you can turn the vacuum on from anywhere in the house, or a self timed outlet. Preferable with lots of on off points, so the vacuum will run by itself every ten minutes.
(KINK ENGINEERING NOTE: NEVER PLAY ALONE OR LEAVE SOMEONE UN-ATTENDED - Especially if you are using a timer or remote)
Another thing that may help is to get a higher powered vacuum, by that I mean 2 Horse Power or above. This will suck the air out of the bed faster, so you won’t have to run the vacuum as long initially. Also, this has no basis in science, but personally feel that it gives a stronger seal over all somehow. Although that may just be a placebo effect.
If you try all of these things and still aren’t happy with the results, well that you are just asking way too much out of your vacbed :) Personally I find that Kink Engineering makes the best vacbeds on the market today and we whole heartedly endorse their products. And if you think about it, running a vacuum ever 20 minutes is not bad compared to the way things used to be :)
Kink Engineering would like to add the following tip:
4) Make sure that there are no wrinkles in the latex that is being sandwiched in the closure bar. The smoother and flatter the latex is when you sandwich it between the bits of the closure bar, the better the seal.
We will be doing some better video work on how to set up, take down, clean, maintain, play with and seal up your vacbed… we are just in the middle of gearing up for a workshop move at them moment so everything is everywhere! Stay tuned for that.
I. LOVE. FETISHKITSCH! (Visit them for great vacbed sets and lots more!)
A Kink Engineering vacbed and an epic amount of lube.
Full video coming to the site very soon.
Finally we have a latex hood for sale! The Ninja style (eyes and nose out) hood is now on the store and ready for production.
Sorry it took so long! I started working on hoods about a year and a half ago, and I was never quite satisfied with the pattern until now.
More styles based on this basic pattern (Open face, Eyes, and blackout) coming soon. Also some much more fun stylish options with all sorts of fancy additions!
