A bad review?

Post on one of our lucha photos on the fetish social media site Fetlife:

As real Mexican ( Born and raised in Mexico, not born or raised elsewhere with Mexican Parents, that is not the same) I got several things to say. First we Mexicans don’t celebrate 5 de Mayo at all, that is a stupid gringo thing just made for drinking just like Saint Pattie’s. Yup.

Second the concept is pretty cool homage with nice ideas I just got one huge complain! Why did you guys didn’t make full face luchador latex masks? why are they all open face? Most classic and even conteporary models are full face, I really get angry when ingnorant stupid people compare latex hoods to luchador masks because the tailoring and design are completely different and this was a great oportunity to develope full hoods with those cuts!

You guys achieved the top pattern magesticly, it look great! But I wish I seen full hoods like clasic Luchador looks like “El Santo” Blue Demon” or something as neat as “Tinieblas” just google him and that is cool idea to develope a hardcore latex hood and the nose pannels would be something never done in latex before and it would look very different from regular hood tailoring and very confortable and easy.

Never the less, great homage and I hope you take this notes for second generation if this is sucessful ;)

Next time, do more homework, I’ll gladly help!

Van Hœt? I didn’t know you were Mexican and Kinky!

My reply?

“More Lucha than You are!”

Iron Man!

This is a great and funny article.  I especially enjoyed that I got to preview some of it when this actual discussion took place between Luke and a friend in my kitchen last week.

jetpackexhaust:

I’ve been itching to write this article for ages and it’s great to see it up. And doing well! And some commenters even wrote that they only started reading it to mock me but now admit that they’ve changed their minds, which I think counts as an Internet Miracle.

Not an ounce of troll in it either. I’ve spent most of my life as a Batmanman, but over the last two years I’ve realized it’s all about the Stark. I kept the article to the movies because that’s what most people have seen but it all applies to the comics too. You should read:

Anything by Matt Fraction. Seriously, his ongoing arcs are amazing. World’s Most Wanted kicks all the ass, and now Stark is a stone-broke startup CEO taking on Big Oil, the US military, Hammer, AND still insisting to anyone who asks “Back off, I got this.” BONUS: Powered-up Pepper Potts is an actual strong female character.

Anything by Warren Ellis. Do I even need to tell you this? The best comics writer for just-beyond-bleeding-edge real tech, the best comics writer for badass, smartass and grabass characters, and the best comics writer full stop. That’s five different way he’s perfect for Stark. (And he’s not writing comics now, so enjoy what you can!)

“Anything” by Adam Warren, but that’s only Iron Man: Hypervelocity. The most lunatic joy overkill-by-super-tech writer I’ve ever loved to bits, and they gave him Iron Man. I won’t consider any match more perfect until they give me Iron Man, by which I mean an actual Iron Man suit. (His Dirty Pair Run From The Future remains the most densely packed tome of technojoy in print, and Livewires is all about the androids.) BONUS: Batfans should track down Titan: Scissors, Paper, Stone for a wonderful and “anonymous” guest character.

I’ve been reading the classics too, but honestly can’t recommend them anyone without an advanced love of the character and kitsch.

The one problem of loving your job… knowing when to quit for the day!
(Hint: It’s just before you start hating your job)

jetpackexhaust:

One of the worst poisons in the modern world is the idea that work and play are separate. As if enjoying something and making an effort at it were mutually exclusive.

We are now selling RADICAL RUBBER black sheeting on the web store.
We will be adding more Radical Rubber colors to our inventory over the next few months, and continuing to supply our own brand of www.sheetlatex.com sheeting to keep a wide variety of colors, metallics, and transparencies available to you awesome latex crafters out there.
Again: Our apologies for the occasional shortage of latex sheeting stock on our store.  We do plan for the peak demand we can imagine and then go above that up to our cash flow limit but sometimes unexpected events, like a Film production that’s hungry for latex sheeting being around the corner from our workshop, can throw off our calculations.

I’m not re-blogging this as a favour to my buddy James who composed this song.

I’m re-blogging it as a favour to you - who should listen to it.

He’s got a Morrissy / Red House Painters / Woody Guthrie vibe going on, and he’s lovely.

“Some time has passed and now I know it
I ain’t done growing up
Nor do I expect or will that I ever will
I’m hooked on fuckin’ up
I wanna spend some time on you”

Back Story: James taught himself guitar in grade 10 on a rusty, bent and broken, horrible classical acoustic guitar that he found in his mother’s crawl space.  It was strung with steel strings instead of the nylon that should have been there, and the neck was badly warped.  That combo made for a year of bleeding finger tips, and crippling hand cramps… but he had a rabid dedication to his craft.

Then he finally saved enough for his first electric guitar (from bussing tables at a breakfast restaurant) and his music began to truly blossom.  That day and he turned right around, handed me his crappy acoustic guitar, smiled and said…

“Your turn”
What do you say to that?   You say “Ok” and start working at playing that damned thing.

I don’t get much oportunity to play guitar nowadays, but it’s still one of the most zen things that I do.   The result of learning guitar for me was finding a love of singing… that eventually led to being in musicals, which lead to dropping out of the “becoming an engineer” job pathway, which (eventually) let do working with latex for a living.  Guitar skills transferred over to a Ukulele also played a big part in sinking my hooks into Archean’s heart.  (El’ Scorcho by Weezer on Ukulele doesn’t work for everyone, but when it does… oh, boy does it!)

So… thanks James.

I wanna spend sometime on you. I ain’t got no map to where I’m heading.  I don’t know where I’m heading but I know I want to go with you.
