Fact:  It’s been a rough 52 days.

You never realize just how much you needed someone until they’re gone.  Wait.  Rewind.  Let me introduce myself:

I’m Marika - AKA Archean - the new CEO of Kink Engineering. I wasn’t a big blogger, because that was Matt’s job.  Among Matt’s other jobs were designing new toys, and sharing cool stuff with the blogosphere.  Dead air on his blog after he passed away.

Fact: It’s been a rough 52 days.

Matt and I were together for 5 years.  We lived together for 3.5 of those years. I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, starting a family, building our business, having adventures… When he passed away he left me with a broken heart, a business to run and a home to reclaim.  I’m resilient.  I’m bouncing back.  The business is bouncing back.

At the moment, we’re still picking up where Matt left off.  That means training new people on our laser cutter, getting new shipments of latex and starting to work on new designs.  Orders are flying out the door again - our turnaround time went from 6 weeks to about three.  I’m hoping to launch some new items late summer/early fall.  It’s a new chapter for me and for my business.  It’s an exciting chapter.  It’s a challenge that takes me out of my comfort zone, but not out of my range of capabilities.  Expect to see new things from us soon.
